About

Welcome to Sunscreen Your Green! I’m Brian and I’m a devoted husband, loving father, avid traveler, surfer, English Premier League football (soccer) nut, and most importantly, saver. I started this blog as a therapeutic way to share my thoughts about the ludicrous things related to money and lifestyle that I see and hear about on a daily basis such as “I got a $5,000 raise, so that’s more money to go out and spend at the bar!” I’m here to help you keep your money from getting burned on unnecessary, and downright idiotic, things. I’m here to help you sunscreen your green! The things that people spend their money on these days are nothing short of mind-boggling, which leads to this site’s motto:

Some people are so far behind that they actually think they’re leading.

One thing to note. I’ve been told by many people, including my wife and close friends, that my brutally honest personality can sometimes come off as abrasive. A word of warning: I’m not here to beat around the bush. I get straight to the point. However, I don’t mean to offend. Take what you read here with a grain of salt and realize that this is just one person’s opinions and that by no means should you take what you read here as the only way to live. Stop trying to keep up with the Joneses!

Background includes a B.S. in Finance and an MBA in Finance from a top 10 business school. Stints in investment banking and corporate finance.

I use two simple tools to track my finances and net worth progression. My first love is the old school Excel spreadsheet. The second is Personal Capital, which has numerous resources and tools with an easy-to-use interface.
